“Not all those who wander are lost”

One line from a poem by J. R. R. Tolkein found in his fantasy novel entitled ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.

We, like many people have reached a point in our lives when we have an intense desire for change. Perhaps to leave a place, a career, a relationship or a lifestyle, this desire is buried in the middle of one’s chest. It maybe a soft whisper, easy to ignore until it becomes a shout that demands to be acknowledged.

It is often easier to stay with that which is familiar but once forward motion has ceased, surely it is time to turn a desire into reality.
